The First Arc: How I BECAME A VOICEOVER
Like many others during lockdown, I made the most of my free time by evaluating what I actually loved in life.
Well, that's not the full truth, like many others I also spent the start of lockdown wasting a lot of time online. But that's par for the course.
I had always been a huge fan of Dungeons & Dragons, as you might have noticed from my website. From roleplaying to running campaigns, I had always loved building worlds and losing myself in characters that you wouldn't find anywhere else. Chaotic, calculating, callous or crass - you are only ever limited by your imagination. I am completely drawn in by every single thing about it.
It was Critical Role, a popular D&D themed YouTube show, that allowed me to finally see that voiceover was an undiscovered passion of mine. The show features 7 voice actors who play an online hosted D&D game, using their skills to bring their campaigns and characters to life.
Watching it wasn't just an entertaining past time. It brought together everything I loved about the game and had me subconciously thinking about what I actually wanted to do for the rest of my life.
Eventually I only had 2 questions left to ask myself.
"How cool would it be to be a voice actor?" and "How in the hell do I get started?"
The rest is history now. I've spent the following years training my skills, working with professional voiceover coaches and online courses. I've also heavily invested in my studio to bring it up to a professionally recognised standard.
I knew I wanted this to be a real business, not just a hobby. I lifted myself to a point where I would be confident to deliver my customers a service that was to the best standard, where they would want to return to me for years to come.
That time is now! It's amazing to be able to finally meet you and ask: "How can I help?"

One of my greatest achievements in my life was becoming a Dad. Although starting my own business will always come a very, very close second. But I won't tell him that!
Every day is such a privilege, getting to watch him grow in to the young man he is today. He makes me see my life in its totality and I'm inspired by him every day. He's what makes me want to be the best that I can be across the span of my life and work, because I know someone is watching and looking up to me.
Thankfully, I can still claim we're at the stage where I can beat him at Fifa, but I know my days are numbered on that one.
That love of football is something I've passed on from my own Dad. I've lived and breathed football since before I can remember. That love of the game definitely has its ups and downs, after all, I am an Arsenal fan! I also hope that writing that information here, it won't affect your decision to work with me.
In my previous life before I went full time with voiceover, I worked for a well known travel and insurance company (they're for the over 50's so you could certainly guess who they are). I got started in their contact centre, which is where I got my real taste of dealing with customers directly. I much prefer dealing with my own customers, where I'm not reliant on someone else's company policy and can deliver on the promises that I always wished I could make.
After 16 years of working my way up the management ladder, I eventually moved into heading up data analysis for Virgin Atlantic. For years I took the mountains of raw data points collected across the company and condensed them all down into a singular narrative that everyone could get behind. I was no stranger to crafting stories that instigated change, using every tool I had at my disposal, from interpreting customer purchasing behaviour all the way to cracking out the crayons if I needed to go to those lengths.
I think the fact I moved on from them and they still took me on as a voiceover client is the best testimonial of all.
